Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings

sparkling wine breakfast pairings

Imagine yourself at a five star resort on an island with white sand beaches. You wake up in the morning and get ready for an amazing day, starting with Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings. Most people go with Mimosa’s for breakfast/brunch. But for me I want the full experience of the wine I am drinking. At the end of the day, the best wine is the one you get to share with friends and family!

When it comes to breakfast, you can’t get much better than starting your day off with a delightful combination of delicious food and a glass of sparkling wine. The effervescence and crisp acidity of sparkling wine make it a great partner for many breakfast dishes. You’ll be amazed at the perfect combinations of flavors to jumpstart your day!

The Menu For Our Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings

We chose to go with mini pancakes with different fruit toppings to choose from. Obviously if you have children there will be whipped cream. For protein, an omelet with a variety of vegetables and possibly smoked salmon. And to top it off some Raspberry Chipotle Bacon, which I can’t wait to try.

The Pancakes

This is a one person serving. You may also change up the ingredients to what you would like. My daughter wants healthy pancakes so we switched up some of the ingredients.

  • 1 banana
  • 2 eggs
  • 30g Oat Flour
  • 50ml Almond Milk (If I can find it I will use silk cashew milk for a better texture)

You can either blend all together or smash up the banana and then mix the rest of the ingredients together.

The Omelet

Everyone has there own way to make an omelet, and even have their own secret ingredients. When I am doing Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings I like to keep it to a minimum. I feel the less ingredients the better experience everyone will have. This is a one person serving.

  • 3 eggs
  • a handfull of spinach
  • Feta Cheese
  • Smoked Salmon (topping)

This is going to make for a great Wine Pairing! The wine’s acidity balances the richness of the omelet, bringing out the flavors of the ingredients.

The Bacon

You can use any bacon or really any meat, but make sure it is something you will enjoy. For instance, we chose a Raspberry Chipotle Bacon to go with our Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings. The wine’s acidity will complement the richness of the Bacon while refreshing the palate! I’m so excited about this one.

The Tasting of Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings

The one thing I love about wine is that the education goes on forever. What I mean to say is that I am always learning something new. But it really all comes down to a few things. It doesn’t matter if you are a novice with wine or a connoisseur of wine. The basics are all the same.

sparkling wine breakfast pairings
  • Take a drink and really think about all the flavors and aromas you are experiencing
  • Then take a bite of food and think about all the flavors and aromas you experience
  • Now take a bite and a drink and really concentrate on the difference of the first two experiences compared to the last one.
  • Once you have done those, now try something else on your plate and do the steps again.

I have said this many times but there are no right or wrong answers on what you are experiencing. Everyone’s tastebuds are different and memories play a big part in the tasting also. The biggest thing to remember is…….Do this with Family and Friends…..And Have FUN!!!!!

My experience…..

This was a birthday experience for me. I received a phone call from a wonderful friend who asked me to be on a Wine Education show we do every Saturday. We pair different Wines from our Wine Club with all sorts of different foods. The point is I couldn’t say no. I wanted to have some fun with it so I asked my wife and daughter to help me with some ideas for breakfast. That’s right, I am on the West Coast so it is a 9am show (you might be thinking that’s too early to drink wine, I did).

I thought about it and the best idea I could come up with is Sparkling Wine Breakfast Pairings. So now we had to come up with some ideas of food. My daughter really wanted to make pancakes (she always wants pancakes), but the healthier ones. I thought to my self, awesome, add some different fresh fruits and it will go amazing with our Wine Clubs Sparkling we have. Then my wife came up with doing an omelet, easy to make and will go great with the acidity of the wine. Last but not least, my Step Mom had the Raspberry Chipotle Bacon. That is going to be amazing because the berry and a little spice, my mouth is salivating just thinking about it.

The Tasting…..

The tasting turned out to be wonderful, just how I imagined. The sun shining, a slight breeze, a fantastic breakfast, some fine wine, and family. Can’t get much better than that. Each pairing went very well, the wine complimenting the food, and the food complimenting the wine. That is how a pairing is suppose to go.

The banana pancakes with strawberries really brought out the freshness of the sparkling wine while emphasizing the fruits flavor. Same with the egg, feta, spinach omelet bringing out stone fruits and freshness of the wine. But when I tried the Raspberry Chipotle Bacon the flavors took a turn. For instance, I could taste bread and the raspberry of the bacon really stuck out. It was such an awesome experience.
