Oahu Adventures

Oahu was on my list of destinations I MUST see. Well I finally made that happen in 2022 when I won a 7 day trip to this gorgeous island. We landed late at night and made our way to the hotel via Uber. I hadn’t experience the “terrible” traffic that everyone told me about. The excitement was so much, I truthfully didn’t even want to go to the hotel. I just wanted to start visiting the rest of the island, having a huge case of FOMO.

Waikiki

A Beach town in the city of Honolulu. A big tourist destination with lots of restaurants, beaches, and activities for everyone. Hotels line the water side and umbrellas scattered throughout all the beaches. Paradise with a city feel. A statue of Duke Kahanamoku, a famous surfer (forefather), stands almost directly across from where our hotel was. The history of this Hawaiian hero at the bottom of the statue. And if you want to get out and see the rest of the island, Waikiki has transportation for you. That is to say, they have rental cars, mopeds, buses, and even tours you can take.

The Hotel in Waikiki

Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach is right on Waikiki Beach and is a five star hotel. We got to experience this wonderful Hotel and all that it had to offer on our first trip to Hawaii. The magic started as we pulled up in our UBER to where the Valet is. They had front door service and offered to take our bags. It had been a long day and we were starving but tired. That being said very excited. After we checked in, the front desk pointed us in the direction of an ABC store that was attached to the hotel. Luckily they were open late so we could grab a bite to eat. I was very surprised at the variety they had for food and my go to was Musibi.

The next day we made sure to check out the rest of the hotel. They have an amazing infinity pool with cabanas and a bar. They even had sun chairs in the pool that you could lay out on. On the slight chance you are hungry you can have food delivered pool side so you don’t have to change to eat.

Places to eat in Oahu

Hula Dog Kuhio known for the famous purple hotdog. I’ve heard about it but never actually seen or experienced one. The dog itself was not purple, the color actually refers to the Taro bun that it comes in. This food truck was only a block away from my hotel, which in Waikiki isn’t really saying much.

Leonard’s Bakery is a famous shop in Honolulu known for it’s malasada’s and other fresh pastries. It’s been around since 1952.
